Happy 2018!

At the beginning of a new year, I like to go back and look at my calendar to see the things I have done, the places I have visited, and the goals I have accomplished throughout the year.

When looking back over 2017, I realized that this was definitely the YEAR for TRAVEL!

Adventures in Cape Town, South Africa

I made the trip of a lifetime to Cape Town and the surrounding area in South Africa! I met my longtime friend Antonio and his family and friends. We visited amazing places like Addo Elephant National Park, Table Mountain National Park, and Boulders Beach. For many years, I thought this trip was a pipedream….Antonio reminds me that it only took me 20 years to visit! I finally got there, and now, I look forward to more trips across the world!! See the photo album of my South Africa trip here.

The Canadian Rockies and Glaciers in Banff, Alberta

I also traveled to Banff, Alberta, saw the majestic Canadian Rockies, and walked on the Athabasca Glacier in the Columbia Icefield. While there, I attended the Alberta Association of Library Technicians Conference. I met some truly inspiring, creative, and funny Canadian women. I haven’t laughed like that in a long time! Those Canadian women know how to have fun!! And if you haven’t seen the Canadian Rockies, I highly recommend going. They are breathtaking…even more so, as you go further north up into Jasper National Park. Click here to see more Banff photos.

Biking, Biking, and More Biking in Colorado

Finally, I left Bozeman, Montana, at the end of August, and traveled around Colorado for about a month. I spent time in Fort Collins and the surrounding areas of Denver, as well as little towns like Fairplay and Canon City. I explored a number of areas before I settled in Colorado Springs, which I am loving!

In addition to biking almost every day when I first arrived, I attended some VERY FUN bicycle events like the Tour de Fat Parade in Fort Collins and the Chasing Santa Ride in Colorado Springs. Watch for the gallery of photos from the Tour de Fat, coming soon!

Experimenting with Innovative Video Software

Amidst my travel, I also finished building and launched my website, which you are looking at, and actively began experimenting with video. I have been interested in video  for a long time. I took video production (studio and field courses) at the Rogue Valley Community TV station in 2010 in Ashland, Oregon. These courses, however, did not prepare me for the future explosion of innovative video tools and software.

I am currently experimenting with EasyVSL, a video program that uses artificial intelligence to make it incredibly fast and easy to add text and voiceovers to slides. See the video above, which was created using this technology. I’d love to hear what you think!

What Will the Next Chapter in Life Bring?

I don’t plan out my goals at the beginning of the year; instead, I create them as I go…
I look forward to 2018, as I continue to try new software and create other kinds of video. It will be an interesting year as I explore more of Colorado and write my next chapter in life.

How was 2017 for you?

Do you have a pipedream that you’d love to fulfill? How do you set and reach your goals?
I’d love to hear about your dreams and plans!
